A hands-on educational experience delivered by the local people of the Adelaide and Mary River Region, Northern Territory. This experience provides visitors with a chance to learn and understand the local customs and traditions of the Aboriginal people of the region.

Location

Pudakul is 55km from Darwin on the Arnhem Highway (approx. 50 minute drive) driving towards Kakadu National Park. Look out for the signs as you approach the turn off. Address: Lot 1581 Arnhem Highway, Beatrice Hill NT 0836 Australia

What to expect

This 2 Hour experience is run by local Aboriginal people. Located on the Adelaide River Flood Plains on Aboriginal owned and operated Limilngan-Wulna Land, just under an hour drive from Darwin.

Down by the picturesque billabong you will learn about the culture and the land.

Learn basket weaving, dilly bag making and the techniques used in the process.
Have a go at throwing a spear, blowing a didgeridoo and play the clapsticks.
Learn about our local food and bush medicine.
At the end of the tour, you will be served damper (bush bread) and hot and cold refreshments after the experience on our undercover deck overlooking our stunning billabong.

Tours depart daily at 10.30am and 4.30pm. Cost includes: Damper (bread) Tea and coffee Cold beverages (Orange / Apple Juice)

Pudakul Aboriginal Cultural Tours is an established 100% fully Aboriginal owned and operated family business delivering an original, authentic and popular Aboriginal culture and nature-based engagement experience.

Located at the Adelaide River Flood Plains on Aboriginal owned and operated Limilngan-Wulna Land, just under an hour drive from Darwin. Adelaide River Wetland is a huge area bursting with wildlife and plants, along with great local attractions such as Fogg Dam, Windows on the Wetlands, Jumping Crocodile Cruises, Djukbinj National Park, Leaning Tree Lagoon and Mary River National Park.

Pudakul is the name of the Macaranga tree (freshwater hibiscus) - the tree our people use to make a spear.

Pudakul offers a range of experiences from a 2 hour Aboriginal Cultural Tour, full day packages including overnight accommodation and optional Wetland Discovery Cruise or Jumping Crocodile tour, as well as day trips to Litchfield and Kakadu National park.
