South West

The South West is windy and wild! Rolling vineyards set against a backdrop of breathtaking coastline and ancient forests, your next adventure is never far away in the South West. More than 23,000km make up the South West corner of Western Australia, making it one of the small regions of Western Australia. You can easily experience unspoiled beaches, beautiful vineyards, forests, caves and more, all in a single day. It is the concentration and variety of landscapes, flora and fauna which make the South West one of the world’s top 36 biodiversity hotspots.

Offering 1000 kilometres of awe-inspiring coastline, 24 national parks and rich soils and fertile land creating exceptional wines and premium fresh produce. In one day, you can relax with a glass of the region’s world-renowned wine, watch humpback whales at play, climb the Granite Skywalk near Albany, marvel in Denmark’s Green Pools and stroll through tall timber forests discovering rare flora and fauna found nowhere else on Earth.

The Margaret River Region is just 2.5-hour drive from Perth and stretches from Busselton down to Augusta and is the heartland of food and wine in the South West. Hop from award-winning wineries and cellar doors to premium restaurants, boutique breweries and distilleries to local farmers markets and artisan providores at the farm gate.

The Great Southern is the largest and most diverse region within Australia’s South West. Located approximately 4-5 hours southeast of Perth it varies from sprawling agricultural lands and national parks to devastating coastline sculpted by the raw power of the Southern Ocean. Head inland to discover century old karri, jarrah and tingle trees towering above you or watch the Frankland River roll by from the Stirling Range.

The Noogar, Wadandi and Bibbulmun people of the region have walked and lived on this Country for almost 50,000 years and their culture is as rich and varied as the countryside itself. Right across the region you can find significant sites, hear the dreaming, ancient songs and the connection between cultural, ecology and Country.
