What to expect

Live the adventure! Sand Dune Adventures promises you a quad bike riding experience like no other. We are the only tour company that has access to the highest sand dunes on Stockton Beach.

No experience is necessary - No licence is required. All of the Sand Dune adventures quad bike tours are tailored to meet the needs and experience of the customers. So if it is flat out or cruising we have the adventure for you.

We provide 1 guide per 5 people so most groups have two guides, one out the front leading you around and one as a tail end to make sure no one gets left behind. You leave our staging area and ride over our maintained tracks through coastal grassland and scrub to get to the dunes. The guide will then take you over more and more challenging sand dunes, up and down. The large sand dunes can be from 40-100 feet high.

Clear and simple hand signals are demonstrated and provided by the lead guide. Clients are provided with a riding helmet and hi-Vis safety vest.

All quad bike tours are conducted in a tag-a-long (single file) format, with each rider instructed to leave a safe distance (5-10m) between themselves and the bike in front. Clients are instructed to stay in the riding line (tracks) of the person in front of them and not to veer off on their own track or ride erratically (no overtaking and no side by side riding).
You must acknowledge that if during the quad bike ride session I continue to ride unsafely and/or I ignore the Tour Guide’s directives after being warned once, then on the following breach, my riding group and I will be guided immediate back to the carpark where my ride session will be immediately terminated with no refund.
Doubling on the 2 seater quad bikes: Please be advised you will be at the back of the tour and will be going at a slow pace for safety. What to bring

  • Closed in shoes (no thongs or sandals) – as we traverse through a bush track then onto the sand dune we would not like a stick or something else coming up and accidentally cutting your foot or leg
  • Long pants – the motor can get very hot and would protect your leg from getting burnt
  • Sunglasses – Stockton beach has white sand and can get very glary on your eyes as you are riding along.
  • Sunscreen – We would not like you to get sunburnt.
  • Camera – Great shots on the sand dunes the tour guides will stop onto of one of the highest dunes and take your picture for you
  • A spirit for fun and adventure
  • Dress warmer for winter months
  • We still go in the rain so please bring wet weather gear or change of clothes if there is a possibility of it raining.

YOUR EXPERIENCE PROVIDER

Sand Dune Adventures

Worimi Local Aboriginal Land Council own and operate Sand Dune Adventures (SDA). We work closely with them to ensure we are preserving the stories, culture and heritage of our lands in all that we do.

We want to share the Worimi story with as many people as possible. SDA does this by providing you an outstanding Indigenous tourism experience. This is how we extend the life of Worimi stories. It helps to connect Australians and international visitors with our country.

SDA provides you with exclusive access to Aboriginal land. This gives you a ‘hands-on’ interactive insight into the richness of our culture and heritage. Culture combined with the exhilaration of riding a 400cc Quad Bike through our amazing cultural landscape. You experience this on the largest coastal sand dunes in the Southern Hemisphere.

Our aim is to share our knowledge with you and hopefully foster a greater understanding and appreciation of the significance of the sand dunes. We do this by sharing the history, stories and traditions through a ‘Cultural Lens’.You will hear and learn about our age-old connection to country. You will be exposed to a unique and dynamic hands-on experience that promote our traditional stories.

We support the aspirations of our traditional owners in that: The Worimi continue to walk on this land and make a tremendous contribution. Our desire as Elders is to do all within our power to care for the land, our people and for the environment. This is our commitment to our forefathers.
