Dreamtime Snorkel is a unique Great Barrier Reef day tour cruise experience, incorporating the world’s oldest living culture and some of Australia’s most amazing marine life. Traditional owners have passed down their Dreamtime stories over tens of thousands of years and now we bring them to you. Indigenous Sea Rangers share stories on Gunggandji sea country including the reef creation story as well as song, dance and music. On this day tour you will visit two spectacular Outer Great Barrier Reef sites, Milln and Flynn Reefs.

Enjoy one of Cairns’ most unique and exclusive Great Barrier Reef tours. Dreamtime Snorkel invites you to step back into the Great Barrier Reef’s Dreamtime with Indigenous Sea Rangers on a day tour to two spectacular Outer Great Barrier Reef sites, Milln and Flynn Reefs.

Snorkelers will experience two premium outer reef sites. Enjoy a relaxing five hours to explore and gain a deeper cultural understanding of this diverse ecosystem and our Indigenous heritage.

During this day tour, you will meet the Indigenous Sea Rangers and learn about original clap sticks and fire poles. You will also experience live demonstrations of traditional dances and the didgeridoo.

Tour Itinerary:


  • Boarding commences at 8.15am with final boarding at 8.45am from Cairns Reef Fleet Terminal
  • Meet at the vessel at Marlin Marina, Cairns. There will be crew on the wharf to help guide you to your vessel
  • Board boat. As you board you're served a delicious breakfast as they board. A bacon and egg damper or a Bunya Nut pesto, tomato and bocconcini damper are served as guests board the vessel - fueling up before a day of exploring the Great Barrier Reef.
  • Grab your complimentary snorkel and flippers

  • Arrive at Outer Great Barrier Reef 
  • Our in water activities commence at the Outer Great Barrier Reef where you’ll enjoy our pristine coral reef site before lunch and the next reef site after lunch.
  • Sample the Native Bush Tasting before lunch – you’ll be amazed.


  • Enjoy a delicious buffet lunch freshly prepared by the highly awarded and renowned Ochre Restaurant and Tropic Spirit Catering.


  • Return snorkel, flippers, life jacket and lycra suits
  • Depart the reef
  • Enjoy afternoon tea whilst interacting with the Sea Rangers on board


  • Arrive back in Cairns

Things to know

This is a full day cruise departing from Cairns.

This Dreamtime Snorkel experience is currently operating three days a week; on Monday's, Wednesday's and Saturday's.

There are some exceptions and additional dates available - please click the Book Now button to check availability.

Dreamtime Snorkel is operated by Reef Magic Cruises / Experience Co.

Cost includes:

  • Breakfast
  • Morning/Afternoon Tea.
  • Buffet lunch - Please advise on any allergies prior to the cruise. Vegetarian options available. 
  • Beverages - Tea, coffee and drinking water will be available free of charge throughout the day.
  • Equipment - All snorkelling equipment including personal flotation devices in adult/child sizes.
  • Wet suit and lycra suit use - Wet suits are 5mm with short arms/legs. Lycra suits provide fantastic sun protection and in season are useful in reducing the risk of jelly fish stings.
  • Informative commentary - On board marine biology presentation/talk en-route to the reef.
  • Fish feeding - Fish feeding and identification session with our marine biologist.
  • Deck amenities - Sunbathe on the boat, fresh water showers and bathrooms.
  • Reference materials on the reef.

Optional extras at additional cost may be pre-booked or you may prefer to wait until the day and speak with our crew who can suggest the best activities to suit your swimming ability. These include:

Planning for your trip:

  • Bring extra cash or a credit card for any onboard purchases including optional activities, souvenirs, professional onboard photos and bar items.
  • Pack a hat, sunglasses, sun screen and a change of clothes.
  • If you are prone to motion sickness it is recommended to take preventative measures around 30 minutes prior to the boat departing. Natural ginger tablets and medicated Travel-Calm are available on board.
