Adelaide

The city of Adelaide is situated on the lands of the Kaurna people. Tarntanya, the traditional name for this beautiful city and parklands means "red kangaroo place" or "red kangaroo Dreaming", referencing the abundant wildlife found on the carefully cultivated landscape of grassy plains that stretched across this region prior to 1836. All 29 parks and significant heritage sites between Port Broughton and Cape Jervis reflect the Traditional Custodianship of the region through dual naming with Kaurna language, for example River Torrens/Karrawirra Parri.

As South Australia's capital city, Adelaide boasts both the joyful buzz of a big city and the welcoming charm of a small town. As well as the popular Adelaide Zoo and Adelaide Botanic Gardens, the city centre offers an abundance of quirky bars, vibrant galleries, indulgent restaurants and bustling shopping precincts to explore. Just beyond the city's doorstep it's easy to see why South Australia is the wine capital of the country, with ample options to wine and dine as you take in spectacular surrounds amidst the Adelaide Hills. Adelaide's beaches might be lesser known than the East Coast, but are just as beautiful, with long pristine stretches of sand, gentle rolling waves and seaside dining at Glenelg, Brighton and Henley beaches.
