Enjoy a leisurely guided eco tour through the pristine waters of the Great Sandy Marine Park in Hervey Bay on the Fraser Coast of Queensland. From the comfort of one of Australia’s largest glass bottom boats, your local Butchulla guide provides cultural insights including significant landmarks and Butchulla names. Come face to face with fish, turtles, the coral reef, dolphins, reef sharks and dugongs as you snorkel the calm waters.

What to expect

Join this leisurely guided ecotour through the calm, clear waters of the Great Sandy Marine Park. You will be able to view the coral gardens from the comfort of the Milbi, one of Australia’s largest glass bottom boats.

This tour offers snorkelling equipment to enable you the ultimate experience of coming face to face with the infinite wonders of the marine park. You are likely to see fish habitat amongst the coral reef, turtles, dolphins, sea bird colonies, and possibly a reef shark or dugong. Absorb the Aboriginal culture of the local Butchulla people of the region and discover the Butchulla names and meanings of significant local landmarks.

Time is set aside to explore Weenandin (Round Island) and enjoy a healthy lunch. Conditions permitting, we may also pay a visit to the spectacular Pelican Banks famous for its crystal clear waters. Perfect for swimming, or just relaxing on the white, sandy shores.

Whilst it is our aim to offer you the best marine excursion possible, please note that our inclusions may vary slightly to optimize the most favourable weather conditions for your comfort.

Departs daily at 10:30am and returns at 2:30pm.

Cost includes:

  • Lunch is provided as well as complimentary coffee, tea, fruit platter & biscuits
  • Butchulla guide on board to share the cultural landmarks and significance of local area
  • Snorkelling gear (thermal shirts for hire at a minimal cost)
  • Park permit for Great Sandy Strait

Subject to tidal conditions the tour may visit Weenandin (Round Island), Pelican Banks Island, Big Woody Island.
