Cable Beach Muwarrt
Muwarrt, meaning "Story Time", is a traditional style gathering that provides an opportunity to learn about Aboriginal culture in a natural and culturally safe environment.
Join Mabu Buru cultural tour guides for a relaxing conversation, or a Muwarrt, at the famous Cable Beach.
This unique experience includes:
- Authentic stories and lessons shared by a local Aboriginal person.
- An introduction to the local Aboriginal culture, Country and history.
- An explanation of Bugarrigarra, creation beings, our spirit beliefs and dreaming.
- An explanation of our "Connection to Country", and our traditional lifestyle that is guided by our ancient knowledge of the local seasons.
- A song performance demonstrations using our traditional instuments, the kullie.
- Revealing of the Cable Beach Dinosaur Track location (tide dependant, visible on tides below 3.0m)

What to expect
This Aboriginal walk experience includes:
- Authentic stories and lessons shared by a local Aboriginal person.
- An introduction to the local Aboriginal culture, country and history.
- An explanation of Bugarrigarra (Creation Beings, Spirit World and Dreaming).
- An explanation of the traditional lifestyle of the Yawuru people which has always been guided by their ancient knowledge of the local seasons.
- A traditional boomerang song performance.
- Revealing of the Cable Beach Dinosaur Track location (*Tide Dependant)

What is included
The tour runs every Monday & Friday afternoon from 4pm-5.30pm, all year (January - December).
Corporate, Private Group and custom days/times are possible by enquiry. Maximum 25 guests per tour.
Meeting point
Meet at the McAlpine Sculpture (Man with a bird on shoulder) near the Zanders Restaurant on the grass area next to the Cable Beach carpark.
Please arrive 15 mins prior to departure time.
What to bring
Please wear comfortable clothing. We will possibly take a short bush walk and/or beach walk under the open sky so please bring some drinking water, sun protection, enclosed footwear, a light folding seat or a beach sitting rug or towel, a camera, a sense of adventure and an open mind!

Mabu Buru Tours
Mabu Buru Tours is owned and operated by Johani Mamid, a traditional Yawuru man whose Country is located in and around Broome in the Kimberley region of Western Australia.
Created in 2019, Johani began conducting On-Country cultural experiences. His vision is to help ""build a bridge"" between different cultures, to increase awareness about Aboriginal people and to encourage visitors to experience Country through the eyes of traditional custodians.
Prior to this, Johani was a Yawuru Country Manager Coordinator with Nyamba Buru Yawuru Limited, a not for profit company looking after Country on behalf of the Yawuru Nation. On Country work included flora and fauna surveying, monitoring and research in both land and sea.
Johani is proud to share his knowledge of his Country with visitors, show you the local wildlife and tell stories of the ancient, continuing connection that his people share with this land.
You may spot Johani in Broome as he is also a crocodile wrangler and tour guide at the Malcolm Douglas Crocodile Park where he gets up close and personal with some pretty impressive crocodiles.
