Join Bart Pigram, a Yawuru man, as he takes you on an adventure on Broome’s famous Roebuck Bay in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. This special tour offers the best seats in Broome for the natural phenomenon of the Staircase to the Moon. This tour runs twice a month and includes all the highlights of the Mangrove Discovery Experience, with the added component of exclusive front row seats on Buccaneer Rock with your Yawuru guide.

Did you know that you can view '3 Staircase to the Moons' each month! This tour is exclusive to the first two moons…..find out why!

Insights into your experience

The tour incorporates the Mangrove Discovery Experience with the addition of viewing the Staircase to the Moon.

The Mangrove Discovery Experience is a fun and engaging 2.8km walk in the mangroves and mudflats with a local Aboriginal guide. You will learn about the different types of mangrove trees. Experience the mangrove forest and hear about the traditional uses of mangrove wood. At low tide the mangroves are alive with mudskippers, mudcrabs and a variety of birds.

Possibly sample some of the bushtucker traditionally sourced from the mangrove forest, spot the different types of crab holes, and if you are lucky, you will taste a beautiful oyster, fresh off the rock. Walking through tidal pools to Buccaneer Rock you will hear the Dreaming story of Randigunya the giant.

After exploring the mangroves you will sit down, relax down and experience the mesmerizing Staircase to the Moon. As the moon starts to rise across the mud flats you get your exclusive seats on the rock in the middle of Roebuck Bay for the Staircase to the Moon – a natural phenomenon. A perfect way to end your Mangrove Experience.
