Sharon Winsor and Warakirri Dining

Over four hours, enjoy Australian native food and beverages, prepared in a unique fusion of modern techniques with traditional methods. Be transformed by authentic cultural entertainment, musical and cultural storytelling, and the in-depth knowledge of Aboriginal culture and food, pioneered by owner and Ngemba Weilwan woman, Sharon Winsor.

Sharon’s greatest past-time as a young girl was to collect bush fruits and catch yabbies, which has led to her passion for sharing Aboriginal food in its purest form. Combining her culinary training with an unparalleled knowledge of Aboriginal food, Sharon has created a transformative dining and cultural experience unlike any other.

Bruce Pascoe

Award-winning Aboriginal writer and historian Bruce Pascoe. Bruce is best known for his work Dark Emu, which reexamines colonial accounts of Aboriginal people in Australia and cites evidence of pre-colonial agriculture, engineering and building construction by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Bruce will be the nights special guest. This is a great chance to rub shoulders with the man behind the book.

Clarence Slockee

Clarence is an Aboriginal man from the Mindjingbal/Cudgenburra clan of the Bundjalung Nation on the NSW far north coast. A graduate of NAISDA, he is an accomplished musician and dancer. He spent a number of years as Aboriginal Education Officer with the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney and is well known as a presenter on the ABC’s Gardening Australia for the past 10 years. Clarence is currently the Director of Jiwah, a company specialising in community engagement to deliver best practise outcomes in horticulture, permaculture, ecology, urban biodiversity, plant thematics and landscape design.

Warakirri means to ‘’grow with us’’. Through this experience, Sharon and the team invite you to grow as a person and connect with culture, to immerse yourself in their experiences, and to explore the ingredients grown on the land we all walk on, prepared by their people. This is bush tucker dining at its finest, incorporating seafood, game meats, rainforest fruits, desert delights, and native beverages. This intimate dining experience showcases the beauty of 60,000 years of culture.

Warakirri is 100% Aboriginal owned and operated and champions the development and employment of Indigenous people.
