Discover the magnificent Kimberley region of Western Australia on an exclusive five day, four night air safari including both Punamii-Uunpuu (Mitchell Falls) National Park and Purnululu (Bungle Bungle) National Park, and fly the entire Northeast Kimberley coast back to Kununurra on the last day.

Soar over the dramatic beehive rocks of the Bungle Bungle range and Mitchell Falls on scenic flights. Explore Purnululu with your local Gija guide, Rebecca (Bec) Sampi visiting Mini Palms, Echidna Chasm, the Dome Walk, Cathedral Gorge and Piccaninny Creek lookout, and other locations off the beaten track. Discover the uses of bush medicine and the amazing bush tucker on offer and listen to the ancient songs of Country as you explore the majestic ranges.

Over the two days in Punamii-Uunpuu National Park (Mitchell Plateau), you will walk with Bec and be joined by local Wunambal guides for various parts of the touring, where you will see the ancient Livistona palms and rock art found along the Punamii walking trail and beneath waterfalls. Swim at the Little Mertens and the Mitchell River before taking an exhilarating helicopter ride over the falls.

The following day tour down to the King Edward river and the incredible rock art sites along the way, stop at amazing lookouts for morning tea, and have a picnic lunch lazing in the rock pools. This is a rare and beautiful local experience.

Itinerary: 

Day 1 - Depart Kununurra on a scenic circuit over Lake Argyle, Osmond Ranges, and station country to land within Purnululu National Park. Enjoy a tea and coffee on landing before commencing your guided walking tours within the Bungle Bungle Range. A picnic lunch is included. After your first walking tour check in to the Wilderness Lodge followed by early evening sunset drinks and nibbles from one of the many lookouts within the park. 

Day 2 - Cooked and continental breakfast is provided at the lodge where you will meet with your guide, and venture by vehicle to the other side of the escarpment to traipse deeper into the  magnificent Bungle Bungle Range. Picnic lunches are provided, and you will have ample opportunity to sit within the shade of the epic gorges to enjoy the cool earth and a well earned meal.  Enjoy your last evening sitting around the fire, whilst your guide shares tales of the Kimberley, watching the stars moving across the big sky. 

Inclusions at Purnululu National Park: 
Guided Cathedral Gorge, Piccaninny Creek, Echidna Chasm, Mini Palms Gorge walks.
Breakfast and three course dinner provided at the Bungle Bungle Wilderness Lodge.
All other meals provided over the day touring.

Day 3 - After a delicious buffet breakfast on the deck, you return to the Belburn airstrip. A fixed wing aircraft will fly you direct to the Mitchell Plateau, over Argyle Diamond mine and the Cockburn Ranges tracking North-West to the top of the Kimberley landing amongst the ancient Livistona palms. Your guide will take you on an exclusive bush tucker and rock art tour down to the King Edward River area of the Mitchell River National Park, rarely visited by guests, followed by afternoon drinks and nibbles on the King Edward escarpment. Check in to Mitchell Falls Wilderness Lodge in the afternoon and enjoy a three course meal on the deck and a glass of wine by the fire after your meal. 

Day 4 - After breakfast at the Lodge, you will meet your guide for the Punamii-Uunpuu (Mitchell Falls) hike, swimming in the beautiful waterholes and waterfalls, visiting the rock art galleries that show case some of the world’s oldest rock art - dating up to 45,000 years old.  Enjoy a picnic lunch in front of the famous Mitchell Falls followed by a swim in the Mitchell River above the falls and then board your helicopter transfer, taking in the incredible view of the falls from the open-door helicopter, back to the beginning of the trail. 
There’ll be time to refresh after the hike before heading out for sunset drinks and back in time for your last night under the stars at the Lodge with your guide. 

Day 5 - Take the start of the morning to relax with a coffee by the swimming hole at the Wilderness Lodge and then you will meet your guide to transfer back to the Mitchell Plateau airstrip. Board your scenic flight following the coastline of the Northeast Kimberley, overflying Trustcott, the operating Paspaley pearl barges and Kalumburu Community, one of the oldest running communities in the Kimberley. From Kalumburu we continue along the coast flying over Faraway Bay, King George Falls, the Berkley River and across the Cambridge Gulf where the five major river systems in the East Kimberley meet before landing
back in Kununurra. 

This will mark the end of your tour with Kingfisher Tours, and we will transfer you back to your accommodation of choice.

Due to high demand for accommodation in the Kununurra in 2022 Kingfisher have held allotments for accommodation in Kununurra at The Cambridge for 1 night on either side of the Iconic Kimberley Safari package dates that are available. Any guests wishing to join us on this tour are asked to please advise if you wish to utilise this offer at an additional cost to the tour price, or to be passed on directly to the guest to take over the reservation. 


Meeting point

Guests will be picked up from their Kununurra accommodation and taken to the KNX airport for their flight to Purnululu National Park. Please ensure you are ready and waiting out the front of your accommodation.
