On Country Two Day Experience (ex Darwin)

Pudakul Aboriginal Cultural Tours

An overnight, hands-on educational experience delivered by the local people of the Adelaide and Mary River Region, Northern Territory. The experience includes a 2 hour cultural tour, an art session, a morning out on country collecting fibres and tools. Overnight accommodation, dinner and breakfast also included.

Insights into your experience

Delivered on Aboriginal land and guided by Aboriginal locals just out of Darwin, you will learn about our culture, land and local bush food and bush medicine while making a bush bracelet. This tour is conducted on Limilngan-Wulna Country and we travel out to Djukbinj National Park to carry out the experience. You will be immersed in this unforgettable and genuine experience. Come and walk with us!

Day 1

You will be picked up from your accommodation in Darwin and driven to Pudakul (approx 50 minutes). On arrival at Pudakul check-in to your self-contained accommodation.

Enjoy an Aboriginal Art session learning the different art painting styles. You will create your own painting on canvas guided by one of our friendly staff.

Up next, at 4.30pm you will enjoy a 2 Hour Aboriginal cultural experience. During this experience you will learn about the different local plant usages, have a go at throwing a spear and more.

After the 2 Hour tour, dinner will be served on the deck overlooking the billabong while watching the evening sunset. After dinner, retreat to your self-contained unit in air-conditioned comfort.

Day 2

A continental breakfast is included in this package, which you can enjoy the following morning before we head out for your morning on country tour. The on country tour starts at 7.30am, so up nice and early and off we go.

Travel 30 kilometres out to Djukbinj National Park (Djukbinj means Rainbow Serpent in Limilngan-Wulna language) stopping to collect and gather plant material to make bush tools. Return back to base at around 10.30am to make the bush tools on a canvas under a shady tree back near the billabong.

The tour shuttle bus will leave Pudakul at 1.00pm and return you back to Darwin city.

Optional additions:

You have the option of staying an extra night or two and can relax back in the room or ask about doing our evening jumping crocodile experience or wetland tour. There is also the option for a 1 day Kakadu or Litchfield National Park experiences as an add-on to this tour if you would like to stay and explore the area some more. A discount is provided for those who opt to stay with Pudakul another night.
