Join a local Worn Gundidj guide for a unique experience in the crater of a dormant volcano at Tower Hill in the great Ocean Road region of Victoria. This two-hour interactive tour provides an exclusive opportunity to explore the natural habitat of Tower Hill with some of Australia’s most iconic animals.

Gain an understanding of traditional Aboriginal lifestyles such as identifying native plants for food or medicinal purposes and learn how to throw a boomerang.

What to expect

A two hour interactive tour walk conducted by our experienced local guides provides and exclusive opportunity to explore the wildlife at Tower Hill and discover the natural habitat of some of Australia’s most iconic animals.

Visitors will engage with guides and nature alike to gain an understanding of traditional Aboriginal lifestyles as well as learning how to identify native plants for food and medicinal purposes and l earn how to throw a boomerang.

Tower Hill Wildlife Reserve is the ideal place for visitors to experience the Australian bush, enjoy magnificent scenery and landscapes. Get up close and personal with some of Australia's most iconic native birds and animals including emus, koalas, kangaroos, echidnas, wedge-tail eagles and other native Australian wildlife.

Tower Hill Wildlife Reserve sits inside a dormant volcano that has a spectacular 11 kilometres crater rim. The volcanic cones rise from a lake bed in a formation known as a nested maar, which was created by a series of volcanic eruptions and events over thousands of years. This area is now home to many of Australia’s native wildlife, and provides visitors with the rare opportunity to witness animals at close range in their natural habitat.

What is included

This 2 hour guided walk departs Monday to Saturday at 10am and 1pm. Booking required.

The tour is ideal for independent travellers, families and groups.

Tower Hill is a 3.5-hour drive south-west of Melbourne on the Princes Highway 14 km west of the major provincial city of Warrnambool, and an hour west of the iconic Twelve Apostles which is located on the Great Ocean Road. Tower Hill was declared Victoria's first National Park in 1892.
