Join a local Elder for an unforgettable display of Aboriginal culture and storytelling in the beautiful gardens of the Firescreek Botanical Winery on the New South Wales Central Coast. During this rich and primal hands on experience, learn about a diverse range of Aboriginal culture and traditions. Experience the art of an Elders Aboriginal storytelling, feel the vibrations touch your soul from the strength of his didgeridoo and clapping stick playing, examine a wide range of traditional Aboriginal tools and artefacts and learn how they were first made.

You will see, learn about and taste Australian Native plants. The Firescreeks’ winemaker will also guide you through a wine tasting and discuss how Australian native flora and other botanicals are used to make these unique wines.

What to expect

Arrive at the cellar door at 2:00pm where you will be met by a local Darkinjung Elder and the Firescreek winemaker. The local Elder will take you on an immersive and interactive discussion of Aboriginal culture, heritage and traditions. Including a masterful didgeridoo display, a wondrous Aboriginal instrument crafted from nature, that echos a vibrant and primal sound, a not to be forgotten experience.

A discussion about Australian native plants displayed in a handmade Aboriginal coolamon bowl will also be provided, where seasonally possible and practical, guests will be able to try this Aboriginal bush tucker. The local Elder will guide you through traditional Aboriginal stories, the history of the local Aboriginal people and an immersive discussion about a wide range of Aboriginal artefacts will be provided by the Elder.

The Winemaker will take you on a guided tasting of all current vintages of wine produced at the winery with a discussion about the winemaking process and the use of Indigenous botanicals utilised in the making of specialised vintages, not made anywhere else in the world.

This is a 90 minute experience and runs from 2:00pm – 3:30pm.

Please note, for this experience to commence a minimum of 6 adults or equivalent are required and a minimum of 7 days’ notice to arrange your booking. Should the tour not gain these adequate numbers to commence on your chosen date, we will contact you to see if another date can be suitably arranged. If an acceptable alternate date cannot be arranged then a refund or gift card for another experience will be provided based on the customer preference. Private intimate group tours also available as well as the option to purchase as a gift card for someone special.

Firescreek Botanical Winery

Practicing regenerative organic farming to make award-winning wines from a wide array of botanicals.

Firescreek Winery grow using small scale organic permaculture regenerative farming techniques. Without the use of heavy machinery and growing using biodiversity of over 30 species of fruit, 40 species of roses and countless other botanicals, the winery is able to make wine all year round, instead of relying on a single grape harvest.

The winery produces over 25 different wines on the property at any one time. Utmost care is taken to delicately make the wine so that the natural flavours of the fruit and flowers are captured in the wine, in one of the ultimate ways of preserving botanicals. Wines are also vegan friendly.

Winemaking from fruits has been around for thousands of years and these winemakers are pushing the boundaries of wine making coming up with unique combinations, some of them never been made anywhere else in the world.
With over 45 medals for these wines the taste and seasonal variations is sure to delight any creative foodie looking for a new experience.
