Join Dale Tilbrook, a Wardandi Bibbulmun woman on an in depth, hands on journey into Aboriginal native edibles as food and medicine In the beautiful Swan Valley, just 30 minutes from Perth, Western Australia. During this experience guests are able to taste the bush food and learn many interesting facts about the nutritional profile of bush food and medicinal plants. Dale will also reveal knowledgeable insights into Aboriginal food traditions such as the yam garden along the Swan River, the Noongar Six Seasons and sustainable hunting and gathering.
Dale Tilbrook’s Aboriginal Experiences will take you on a cultural journey that will ignite all the senses.
In a relaxed setting at the Maalinup Aboriginal Art Gallery you can taste a variety of wild bush foods, such as quandong, native limes, sandalwood nuts and local coastal greens. Learn about and awaken your senses as you taste native Australian herbs, spices and peppers. Discover the uses of bush tucker plants, their medicinal properties and the surprising health benefits they offer. Explore the bush food garden. Feed the emus who are happy to pose for a photo opportunity. Enjoy some bush tucker inspired savoury and sweet samples.
On conclusion of your tour, you are free to wander the gallery and purchase any of the art or bush foods you have tasted during your tour.
