Join Marissa Verma, a local Noongar woman as she shares her passion for bush foods. Marissa is known for her highly successful catering business featuring bush flavours as well as her intimate knowledge of Noongar Country, its people and the environment.

Join Marissa online, from the comfort of your own home, as she guides you through some of her favourite recipes in a cooking class infused bush foods and traditional learnings that have been handed down from generation to generation. Learn the names and uses of the traditional herbs and spices and how best to use them for yourself and your family.

What to expect

Jump online for a fun and light hearted cooking session with Marissa. You can sit back and watch or you can cook along with Marissa Verma.

You will develop a deeper understanding of why and how the local food systems are so important to Aboriginal people and permeates every aspect of life including connecting with family and friends.

Learn the importance of the six seasons and the importance and sustainability of the environment, Marissa will also speak to the current season and what foods and dishes are popular during this time and why.

If you wish to cook Marissa will send you all required for the ingredients that need to be sourced and the recipe. Please allow enough time to shop for the ingredients before the experience. Ingredients costs not included in the price.

Bindi Bindi Dreaming is an Aboriginal family owned and operated business. The business has been in operation since the year 2000. Local and international visitors, have come to enjoy and experience a range of cultural activities making learning about Noongar history much easier and creates a better understanding.

Local Aboriginal guide Marissa Verma will share with you her lifetime experiences of Noongar culture. This knowledge has been shared to her by many Elders of Noongar Country and they are only too happy for her to now share with you.

On your cultural experience, you will encounter significant cultural knowledge and information as well as seeing, touching, and smelling the wonders of the natural bush land that people still have in connection to this Country.

The sorts of skills that exist within the enterprise are cultural tour guiding, catering with bush flavours and knowledge of Noongar Country and its people and the environment.
