About us
Trevor and his wife Helen discovered Bremer Island while operating a fishing charter business in Gove, Northern Territory. Banubanu was established in 2005 and Helen and Trevor have spent the last 16 years building Banubanu to what it is today. They want people to experience all that East Arnhem Land has to offer including its pristine beaches and beautiful sunsets. Banubanu is located on Aboriginal land that belongs to the local Yolgnu clan of East Arnhem Land. The traditional owners have given Helen and Trevor permission to operate Banubanu on Bremer Island. Visitors pay a permit fee when visiting Banubanu which is paid to the traditional owners.
Bremer Island Cruises operates from Gove Harbour and was established to cater for the developing tourism in East Arnhem Land. Working in collaboration with Banubanu Beach Retreat, Bremer Island Cruises takes guests across to the retreat on a high-speed tour boat that can carry 20 passengers to enjoy a much sought after day tour and a sunset cruise on Gove Harbour by request.
